| The unit is designed for students to develop an in-depth understanding of the models, approaches and research methods in the area of cognitive psychology. These include; perception, attention, memory, knowledge, visual imagery, language, problem solving, reasoning and decision making. There will be a special focus on language as a central phenomenon in cognitive processes. Cross-cultural issues in cognitive psychology will be discussed. The unit examines current approaches to research including methods from neuroscience, examples of applied research and the application of knowledge to the real-world. Cognitive psychology online experiments are embedded throughout the unit and demonstrate specific aspects of the unit materials.
