This unit introduces students to audiological clinical assessment techniques used in older children and adults within a framework of patient-centered, culturally responsive care. Students will learn how to take a case history, perform otoscopy, pure tone audiometry, acoustic immittance testing, and speech discrimination testing. Students will acquire the clinical decisionmaking skills needed to select and administer appropriate hearing assessment tests, interpret findings, and make appropriate management and referral decisions.
Students are expected to attend a 5-day face-to-face intensive on the Casuarina campus as part of their learning for this unit.
