Unit Description

This unit is a continuation of Hearing Aids. Identification and treatment of hearing loss through the appropriate selection of hearing devices is only one part of the rehabilitative journey. This unit provides theoretical knowledge on the multidimensional nature of hearing loss and its impact on the person and their family. Students will learn about non-device audiologic rehabilitation techniques, the psychosocial impact of hearing loss, assessment strategies, current technologies, treatment methodologies, and outcome tools.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Critically evaluate theoretical knowledge of aural rehabilitation techniques and their benefit to the individual, family, and community.
2.	Design, evaluate, and review individually tailored aural rehabilitation plans within a patient-and family-centered framework.
3.	Adapt aural rehabilitation plans to be client, family, and culturally responsive across a variety of contexts.
