This is the first project unit in the series of applied business sustainability research projects that make up the Graduate Certificate of Business Research or the Advanced Business Research Specialisation. Collectively these four units provide the knowledge and practical in-depth experience required for conducting more advanced business research, as well as a potential pathway to higher degree by research.
The business literature review project provides a firm foundation in the critical secondary data collection and analysis stage of the business research process. All too often academic and commercial researchers realise only at the end of this process that shortcomings in their literature review have significantly reduced or even negated the value and contribution of their research effort. Undertaking effective review of literature and secondary data sources is therefore the critical starting point for identifying key information gaps, determining explicit research questions and designing appropriate methodologies to address these. In the context of a contemporary business sustainability issue, students will engage in systematic literature review, develop research questions and hypotheses with corresponding research design. The project will also inform student academic writing and reporting capabilities.
