Unit Description

The aim of the unit is to enable students to make an innovative contribution to understanding of learning in the student's professional field and disciplinary domain. Students prepare a proposal for a research-based inquiry project which implements a research design. This design is negotiated with a research advisor and builds on previous units in the Master's program. The proposal involves synthesis of the extended literature review, design of a research project with relevant methodology and indication of understanding of ethical protocols to address data collection. This unit is a precursor to EMG825 where a complete thesis is finalised.

1.	Identify a research topic, research plan and timeline in consultation with adviser.
2.	Develop independent research processes by undertaking an extensive review of literature and clarify methodologies related to the chosen topic.
3.	Demonstrate capacity to complete a proposal, understand ethics in research and plan a timeline for an independent project
