The unit will engage preservice teachers in the critical analysis of effective pedagogical practices for First Nations learners. Preservice teachers will build on their existing knowledges from prior units to develop a critical understanding of contemporary Indigenous education policies and the application of demonstrated best practice to facilitate First Nations student success and provide leadership in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education space. The unit enables students to work confidently in various contexts to teach First Nations learners, and to teach about Australias First Nations people and cultures.
