Successful organisations monitor their internal and external environments in order to make accurate forecasts and optimise their finances and investments. To do this managers must appreciate the impact of key sustainability dimensions on financial and accounting decision making. This unit covers the critical accounting and corporate finance concepts required by managers. It provides an introduction to financial statements and ratio analysis before moving to key concepts of the time value of money, pricing of financial assets (bonds and equities), the risk-return trade-off, capital budgeting, optimal capital structure, international financial investments and the relation between corporate governance and sustainability.
