This unit has a focus on environmental factors that can impact and negatively affect the human systems under extreme conditions. Students will explore and examine the pathophysiology of hypothermia, hyperthermia, hypobaric and hyperbaric conditions. Evidence based best practice treatments for the relevant conditions will be critically evaluated. Students will explore and justify the treatment of individuals with the above conditions in the aeromedical context. Students will appraise important industries in relation to at risk for extreme conditions of human system and risk mitigation to prevent these.
