Unit Description

This unit introduces students to key contemporary literary works and writing styles. The unit teaches students how to conduct academic research and produce critical written analysis in response to the studied texts.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Compare and discuss the cultural contexts for canonical literature.
2.	Analyse styles and themes from examples of canonical literature.
3.	Analyse and apply conventions deployed in great books.
4.	Critically evaluate literary theories for canonical literature.
5.	Express arguments about great books via essayistic commentary.
