Unit Description

In this unit, students will learn about communication theory and explore the different components of human communication that contribute to communication competency. Students will develop skills in the analysis of nondisordered language and communication, including linguistic analysis, phonetic transcription and conversation analysis.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Investigate communication theory and the components of human communication that contribute to communication competency.
2.	Apply linguistic and phonetic analysis to Standard Australian English.
3.	Apply phonetic transcription to non-disordered Standard Australian English.
4.	Apply conversation analysis to dialogue in different settings, considering barriers and facilitators to effective communication.
