Unit Description

This unit provides students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills which are required by a Level 1 sport trainer. In this unit students will perform physiological and psychological assessments for a wide range of clients including; children and female athletes. Applying coaching theories will enable students to develop strategies to motivate and enhance athletic performance.

This unit includes one week face to face intensive which will be held at the Exercise and Sport Science laboratory on Casuarina campus. The intensive week aims to develop skills (laboratory, coaching, and assessment of athletes), and knowledge regarding the Exercise and Sport Science technology and equipment and the use of technology for the analyses of human performance.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Acquire skills to manage specific sport injuries, sports taping, and transportation of an injured athlete.
2.	Develop knowledge of common physical and mental assessments for sport performance and overall health and wellbeing.
3.	Develop understanding of coaching theories and practices to promote healthy lifestyle and develop athletic performance.
4.	Incorporate theoretical knowledge of sport science into practice to monitor and enhance athletic performance.
